When with your friend,you next take a walk, slow the pace so both can talk. Ask about her youth and her friends.Ask of the grand and exciting places she may have been. Ask of thoes she knew who went to war, ask of those she sees no more. Ask of mr. special, who gained her hand, given the chance would she choose him again? Ask if truly,was he the man? Was he the one who captured her all, or was there one who never called? Was there one, back in the day? Who missed his chance to sweep her away? We live with the choices we made back then. But oft we ponder, what might have been. Did she miss a life of love and splendor, or does she just opt not to remember? |
